A drainage leak from a neighbouring property that sat 4 feet higher against the cob wall had resulted in a major flood. Stripping the plaster, I tanked all areas where previous tanking from the 1970s had failed. I also turned a hole in the fireplace brickwork, that was filled with damp cob, into a decorative niche. This wall is thought to be as early as 16th century, so the lack of straight lines made even the skirting boards a satisfying challenge.
